While the popular Raft Race was discontinued in 1998 due to the rising cost of liability insurance, that’s not the reason Fort Wayne residents won’t enjoy it this year. Three Rivers Festival officials said in a news release the race won’t be held in 2018 due to riverfront construction along the St. Mary’s River.

According to Executive Director Jack Hammer, improvement will create a more engaging event for participants and spectators alike. They are even more excited about how the race will grow in future years.
