While the City of Fort Wayne has been grappling with raising insurance requirements on taxi companies, ride-sharing programs like Uber will likely be unaffected.
Understandably, some cab operators are irritated by the discrepancy. Yellow Cab owner Hassan Nassor told The News-Sentinel, “What regulations do they have to follow? They shouldn’t be able to operate at all.”
Most personal auto policies specifically exclude coverage for damage caused while collecting a fee to transport others.
