An Update From One of Our Carriers, Indiana Farmers

As many of you are aware, state insurance departments around the country are contemplating or have issued moratoriums to prevent policy cancellations and non-renewals for nonpayment of premium. While we have not received any direction from Illinois, the Indiana Department of Insurance has published its bulletin.

Effective March 19 and continuing through May 18, we are placing a moratorium on the cancellation of policies and non-renewals for nonpayment of premium in Indiana.

Even though a similar request has not been received from Illinois, we are extending the same courtesy to our Illinois policyholders. We believe it’s the right thing to do.

We will continue to send invoices for premiums due. Payments made automatically by EFT or credit card will continue unless stopped by the policyholder. Finally, we will waive all fees for any late payments.

It is important for all of us to clearly communicate with policyholders that this is not a waiver of payments due during the moratorium period, but an extension or grace period to pay premiums.

Finally, should we receive a directive from Illinois, we will comply with their specific requirements.
