So many people have contributed to this
plan directly and indirectly, it's hard to know where to start. Let me
acknowledge in particular the following who have inspired me to put ideas
to virtual paper...
Matt Kelty - First and
foremost. Matt inspires my wife and me and others like us--young
professionals who have lived and worked in the area our whole lives and
want to secure this city's future for our children. We really never paid
much attention to local politics until we met Matt and learned about his
vision and core philosophy. For us this means that each of us is asked
to bring our own strengths for the benefit of our great city. I guess
you could now call me one of those "impassioned
citizens" he refers to whose fire-within was ignited simply
from knowing this man.
Councilman Tom Smith -
Tom has been an advocate for riverfront development for a long time.
He too is a visionary and his enthusiasm for building this great city is
contagious. He has been a great source of information and I
respect his opinion. Tom has earned my support for reelection in the 1st
District.
Don Willis - Mr. Willis is a role model
who inspires me. This impassioned citizen's philanthropy is only
surpassed by his enthusiasm and vision.
Mayor Graham Richard -
I applaud his efforts to seek public input by commissioning
the North River Now! Task Force along with County Commissioner Bill
Brown.
North River Now! - The
community workshops held to date have been enlightening and rewarding.
The task force members I have met handled these events with
professionalism and class. In particular, Rick Samek,
Wendy Stein, and
John Urbahns are to be commended for their sincere interest in
community feedback.
The Fort Wayne Blog Community
- The Internet in general and blogs in particular facilitate the free
exchange of ideas in the 21st century. We are indebted to all the
local bloggers who express their ideas, thoughts, hopes, frustrations, and
dreams, and allow the rest of us to participate as well. While sometimes
our emotions get the better of us and some posts lean toward the extreme,
we can still gain the perspective of the other side. I'm grateful
for this.
The People of Fort Wayne - I am inspired by the renewed enthusiasm for our great city.
So many ideas and concerns about riverfront development found here have
come from other impassioned citizens freely expressing their own
opinions.
With gratitude,
Dave MacDonald
